To Mother, From Child
By: Johnathan Garcia
Why did you leave your children mother?
Your innate love was so strong that you left humanity unattended.
We have each other’s blood on our hands.
Like Cain & Abel, tribe against tribe, sister nation against sister nation, we have seen the horrors we are capable of, and no justification is worthy to answer the collective sorrows of the world.
In our time as yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that one, and so-on-so-forth; you, the all-mighty that has spread your presence across the lands, are just as equally absent.
You have no right to punish us if the notion of your existence manifests.
We are not to blame, because like sheep — your personal favorite comparison — we easily follow without question whoever seems fit to guide us. Sadly we have no sense of self-direction.
Yet, we seem to follow the path of self-annihilation.
