Countdown From Quarantine: New Year's Resolutions
By: Mariah Muhammad & Tatyana Woodall
Instead of counting down the days to the New Year, many have been left counting down the weeks until the latest versions of the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to fast-track us to the home-stretch of the pandemic.
Although New Year’s has typically been a time to change habits or pursue long-held goals, the morning after our no-good, terrible, very bad year might be a little quieter than anyone might have expected.
This year has given many ample time to ponder both the past - and the future. Although some of the most common resolutions for students include promising to make healthier choices, getting more sleep, or getting more involved on campus, it can be hard to get - and stay, on track.
To help students achieve these targets, Ohio State provides several on-campus services through the Counseling and Consultation Service, which offers several options for individual counseling, crisis support and debriefing, as well as group therapy.
The LEAD Series at OSU also offers workshops on expanding leadership abilities, dedicated to skills that help progression in classes and understanding how self-care is important to achieve lower stress levels.
Starting the new year with new goals encourages positivity, healthy choices, and imbues you with energy to improve your lifestyle, but that also means having the courage - and desire, for reflection.
