Black Women, I Commend You.

By Alana Davis

“The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman, the most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman.” – Malcolm X

Strength. Resilience. Endurance. Power. Ambition. Determination. Fight. Courage. Love.

Black women, my how beautiful you truly are. Black women, my how strong and courageous you are. Through hard times, you learn to carry more weight than any man ever could. Black women, you are the foundation of our race. How could we not love you? Black women, you bend, but you never break. What is your secret? You love and you love and you love again just because you can. Black women, how do you do it?

Living in a society where being black is a crime, but being a black women can give you even more time. Black women, you fight against the issues the world has with you every day and then you do it all over again at home. Black women, you endure so much pain and yes you hurt, yes you cry, but you are resilient. You are light. You are strength. You are powerful.

Black women, I commend you because I do not understand how you can love when you are so hated. I commend you because you continue to give, even when the world constantly takes with no thank you’s. You are under appreciated. You are overlooked, but black women.. I see you. I look up to you. I follow you. I believe in you. I love you. Black women, you are what I will soon be. A black women in America, under appreciated. Over looked. Hated. Pushed aside. Black women, even though it isn’t always said, you are loved. You are wanted. You are needed.

Without you, I am nothing. Black women. I commend you.
